How much does an indexation tranche cost an employer?

Figures as of September 2026 (STATEC); this page is rebuilt at every monthly release.

A tranche raises every wage by 2.5% at once. For 1,000,000 € of gross annual payroll, the direct extra cost is about 28,250 € per year, employer social charges included (≈ 13%).

The cost is permanent and compounds: each tranche applies to wages that are already indexed. Since 1985, 37 tranches have lifted wages by +134.9% cumulatively, at a pace of roughly one tranche every 13 months.
